Summer intentions

Saturday felt like summer already. Although we had change of plan last minute. Lizzy woke me up 10pm crying as she had headache (38.3C). I gave her Tylenol and she was fine, but we skipped the swimming competition which was a bit of a bummer. Fortunately she didn’t have any more fever on Saturday and we spent the day super relaxed, at least half of the time on the couch reading or watching World Cup.

I started to feel that summer break has arrived. I also finished arranging the summer sublet we are staying so all set for the summer break in DC.

I don’t have a bucket list, but do have intention of what I hope we feel this summer.

Feelings: calm, slow, nowhere to be but present, connection, serendipity

Low key summer things

  • Take walks with the girls. Most of the days I’ll be with Lizzy alone and we will aim to walk 20-30 min a day before or after her summer camp.
  • Have ice creams and popsicles. Maybe we make a challenge of try new flavors every day.
  • Eat outside, bring food to parks.
  • Visit arks/playgrounds.
  • Read books that make me feel summery.
  • Soak up the sun on my face and the breeze in a hot day.
  • Listen to music, find local concerts.
  • A lot of talk with the girls, especially Lizzy. For 3 weeks it will be just me and her being besties.
  • Try summer special/treat from Trader Joe’s.
  • Teach Lizzy to cook some simple dishes?!
  • Explore our temporary neighborhood.

What’s your summer intention?

  1. That sounds like a blissful summer ahead of you, Coco! Walks, parks and ice cream experiments. You are creating wonderful memories for your girls!
My summer intention is to stay active without overdoing it. And to eat more healthily and to get lots of sleep!

  2. Sounds wonderful!!

I did a “taste test” with m&ms with the kids and they loved it. They close their eyes then guess the color of the candy. Can be probably done with ice cream flavors, too.

  3. This sounds amazing! I’m definitely leaning into a more relaxed schedule for the summer. Unlike you, I’m not as focused on my daughter- she’s busy with her own things and friends. I’m trying to make a point of touching base with her as much as possible, while leaving her own a lot of the time. And then we have a WEDDING! That’s at the end of July, and is a big focus of the summer. So- this summer is definitely not like other summers for us!

  4. It sounds like you have a great summer ahead of you. Being in DC will be so fun and the 1:1 time with Lizzy will be nice. My summer intention is to get to the pool with the boys at least a couple of times/month. We are getting to the point where it’s easier to go to the pool now that Paul is a strong swimmer and Will is making strides. We have some really fun pools around us so I need to make a point to get there as often as we can!
