And just like that… summer in DC is over

The last few days were filled with shopping trips, meeting with friends, playdates with my best friend in DC, movie, and semifinal!!!

Sofia got quite a few shirts this time. I learned about the new teenager clothing brand Brandy, which is one size only. Mmmm… how inclusive that is. the store in Georgetown was sooo packed! But I must say the clothes are not bad. Soft, simple, good fit for teens. The above lilac t-shirt is my favorite.

On Monday I took the girls and girls of my best friend in DC to level88 for 2 hours play. Quite cool place for older kids and adults. I love seeing the two pairs bonding. The older girl is same age as Sofia while the little one is one year older than Lizzy and has similar personality of Lizzy so they played very well together.

After the play and McDonald we went to do some girls shopping.

I love these two girls and the dynamics between them. While Lizzy formed part of them right away, Sofia was just laughing all day long watching them. They are hilarious and picked each other nonstop and very matter of fact. I knew Sofia would find it funny. I love how relaxed they are, how creative, finny, crazy, while still polite and respectful.

Tuesday I went to office after lunch and the girls went to my friends’ house to continue the playdate while watching France and Spain.

Wednesday was my last run in this beautiful path. It was a super hot day and I didn’t bring water as I was planning to run 6 miles, but ended up 9 miles as I wanted to get to my favorite section. When I got back I was a bit dehydrated so water and electrolytes to the rescue

Then we went to watch the minions movie. I liked how without understanding their language, we understood the movie. Isn’t that amazing?

We got home 10 min before the game. All nervous.

Lizzy couldn’t stop snacking and said she’s stress eating. So funny! 😂

After the first gol, I started cleaning the house, yeah, that’s my behavior when stressed. I was hopeful and optimistic of Argentinian ability to turn the game around as they did in all previous matches. And they deliberated in a masterful way!

We were over the top!!! This time I purposely decided not to watch it with anyone but the family as I wasn’t sure I could behave professionally during the game

To celebrate we went out for ice cream and Frappuccino.

This morning 2:25am we left our summer house for our journey back home. Now we are transiting in Miami.

I’m glad nobody got sick, injured, had any accident. That’s what I ultimately worry when traveling with the girls alone. Everything went as planned and better! I hope we get to come back next year to replicate this!

Oh… one more unexpected news, work related. Two work friends from Manila called me this week as there’s a position opening up and they, on behalf, of many teams there, asked me to please apply. They know that a piece of my heart left in Manila. But after consulting with husband and my “work” husband, the unanimous answer was no. I appreciate their blunt response as it would be a rational decision to leave Brazil now. Yet, it was nice to know I was/am missed by Manila.
