TGIF!!! The first week back to work/school is finally approaching to end. It went well, I didn’t feel exhausted thanks to intentionally plan rest and recover. Girls are happy to be back and excited to start new routines as many changes were introduced.
I finally got a hammock!!! After seeing Sam and Elizabeth enjoying so much theirs and my daily hammock nap during our trip, I was determined to find a solution at home. It turned out that we had a perfect space for it at the back. So on Sunday Lizzy and I drove to the road site guy who sold it. This is the perfect spot for sunset reading! Even it’s just 15 min there, I feel at the vacation mode.

I am back to slimfit at full force! I will be doing 3 times a week while I am in Brasilia, to up my training load to prepare for the marathon. I love it and it definitely works (I’m the first one on top). What I love it the most is how the method and this community of women are shifting my mindset toward working out. It’s about selfceare, it’s about force and power, it’s about building the structure to carry our life and hobbies so we can enjoy fully. I must confess that I was hesitant to build muscle because I don’t like the muscular look. But now I equal muscle to power, to vitality, and I am proud of building mine so I can put all carry on bags (10kg+) to the overhead bin with ease, carry 23kg+ luggage from second floor on stairs, carry heavy groceries bag for blocks and blocks. I want to show my girls what’s to be strong. When any of my girls tell me their belly or thigh look fat, I shift the conversation to focus on muscle and power.

Due to some new changes introduced by middle school this year, more study hall, less electives, there has been a lot of complains among parents. They don’t like free time during school hours. They want the full schedule of subject hours. I asked Sofia how she feels about the change and why others don’t like it. Sofia appreciates more study hall times because she gets to do her homework during school hours. I told her I trust her judgement and won’t be joining the other parents to complain to the principal.
I have been doing daily evening stretching, sometimes with Lizzy. It feels so good to end the day with 10 min stretching and quiet music.
Meal prep worked wonders this week. I didn’t have time to cook dinner for the family so what I had in the freezer came handy. Will do more this weekend so girls have more varieties.
I had a midweek massage after work and it was GREAT! I had something to look forward to and felt recharged for a last push. I should do this more often.
Happy Friday!
I’m definitely focused on building muscle but I don’t think most of us could look super ripped unless we really really focused on it. I like seeing strong arms on women. I think back to Michelle Obama and how awesome she looked in sleeveless dresses when she was in the White House. Plus more muscle increases calorie burn.
I am glad the return to school went well. My boys don’t start until sept 8 and 10! Labor Day is so late this year and kinder starts 2 days later. They have childcare every week so it isn’t a big impact. But I am ready to get them back to focusing on a curriculum again!

Yes to strength training! Nice photo of your back, too! Strength training is an investment in what your body can do – both now and when you’re older.
I also really like the message you’re giving your girls. Helping them see their bodies as strong, capable, and powerful instead of focusing on appearance is a gift!
