We had a packed weekend. I probably need to take Monday off easy to recover from it. All great and happy that everything went well (almost!).
Saturday was Sofia’s birthday. I didn’t do anything special before hand as she did the invite and planed for the activities. All I did was to order her favorite cake. In the morning, we went to the party shop to get balloons and candles. I made pizza dough and toppings as girls will do pizza for lunch, just like last year. YAY for simple parties!!!
One of her best friend made a cookie cake as gift!!!Soooo thoughtful, that was our favorite gift received this year. We talked about the gifts at night and I emphasized how special this hand made gift is for me. It’s so much more thoughtful to spend hours to make a personal gift these days. Sofia also got some makeup and didn’t know what to do with them. haha…
Our decor was as simple as it gets. Appetizer were chips with store bought guacamole, and fruits.
Yet, no fancy is required when it’s fun with friends.
Sofia’s heart pizza came out perfect this time.
Oh and this shirt that we got from amazon (5 USD) she loved it and wants more colors. I love how brand agnostic she is, and prioritizes comfort over look.
After lunch, girls spent a while at the pool and I was their DJ.
they also played games on the floor and made totes with prints as souvenir
and here she is, Sofia, the caring, responsible, detailed oriented, thrives among close friends while shy in big groups, whose hand writing is exemplary in class, fast reader, curious about social events, heart full of love for animals, driven, brave, resilient, and athletic (although her friends can’t believe she competes in swimming). I joke that she’s a better version of me and I truly hope she finds a calling and surrounded by people who love her.
Sunday was swimming event for Lizzy, at a place 45 min away from home. Daddy took her first as I had a race and arrived a bit late, and she already got one medal for 50m breast.
Then she had 3 more events in the afternoon, going by super fast, and got 3 more medals. To be fair, it was a smaller event, only clubs from Brasilia, unlike last weekend Sofia’s competition which is cross states.
Yet, I am still proud of her getting 3 medals out of 4 events.
We got home 5pm. I was exhausted as I left home 5:15am. And guess what happened? Our electricity went out 7:20pm!!! It was ssooooooo hot and we all struggled to sleep without AC. I tried sleeping naked, I tried opening the window embracing the mosquitos, I tried sleeping in the living room, I tried using the little fan that Sofia was nice to give it to me instead of using herself. Yet, it was sooo hard! Electricity came back 23:30pm! Thank god we all got few hours of decent sleep.
