- Taking the rest. Thanks to the hectic schedule this week, I haven’t ran any yet, nor strength. Nada. I know myself that if jot, I wouldn’t be able my need to run because I feel pretty much recovered the 2nd day as I didn’t really race rather had a 3 hours long run. My body probably would benefit from it but the urge to move is real.
- Planning for what’s next. I do have a race booked, 50km, on April 24. It’s a trail race so I feel like it won’t require the same intensity of a marathon training thus less challenging. I crave intensity and challenge, and endurance long distance is less challenging. Maybe I should plan for shorter race before.
- Planning next block training modality. Kotcha was good for the last round of training after semi-injury to take the pressure off from 1-1 coaching. But will I use the same approach now that I can train fully?! Still contemplating to join a group coaching, in person, or distance 1:1 coaching.
- Lack of appetite. I know many would think appetite would be crazy after the races especially I barely fueled (2 -3 gels in total if not coursing the puking and vomiting). Yet I wasn’t hungry for the past week, even less than my normal training week. Probably once I get back to regular training I’ll start to enjoy food more. I like to eat to fuel as an athlete.
- Shifting focus. I like that for the past few weeks I was so focused with the marathon training. Outside of work and Lizzy’s test, that was my focus. A focus that is self centered. It feels like self care. Now that this is gone, I will shift to other focuses like our upcoming trip to Argentina. I need to book the tours in 3 cities and survive the last push at work before taking off for 3 weeks.
None of these are real struggle, I’m just acknowledging the shift and being in the limbo which is needed from time to time.
If you train or prepare for a big event, how do you manage the shift after it ends?
