In the last week I’ve been selfishly dedicated to my hobby neglecting work and family duties. I couldn’t have done it without the supportive team at work and at work.
It’s a hectic busy time at work since the election took an unexpected turn thus we had to revise work plans and I’m among the decision group. Yet, my boss who I tracked to São Paulo, was as excited about my marathon as I do and was among the first to check how did it go. Similarly all my team was excited for me and took the weight from my shoulder by advancing the work while I was away. I gave ideas of what I want to see by when, the skeleton of what needs to be done, and they executed with close collaboration and creatively. I could say they’ve went beyond my expectation how well the first draft I saw. Super proud of them and deeply grateful. I hear so many drama and toxic dynamics among colleagues in other places, but here in Brasilia, we work really well as a team. No drama, no completion, no ego, but working collaboratively and toward the same goal. I feel thankful everyday.
At home my husband is my best support. Everything ran smoothly while I was away. Girls didn’t complain other than monotony of food options but that’s fine for a week and kind of makes them appreciate even more when I’m in charge of meals. During the past few days while both Lizzy and I were away, Sofia said the house feels so empty and she feels like I’ve gone for a long time. Sofia is independent and responsible, physical needs and schedules run smoothly without reminder, yet she still needs my emotional support while I feel lucky about. Fortunately we have two lovely cats to keep her company and she feels responsible to comfort them too.
We are on our way back to Brasilia, likely in 3 hours we will be back to our routine which I crave.
I have a long list of things to do at work and some meal prep. If weather allows I will also do a short run, really craving it.
