Trying new food, good progress, and a food realization

Thursday was a lot of fun, at work space mostly. We went to try Padang food as farewell lunch to our assistant. It’s an interesting setting. The food are covered on the table, the guests choose whatever they want to consumed, and we will be charged by what we eat. At the end of the meal, the guy comes to audit and can know what we ate just looking at the empty plates. How interesting! The food was okay for my taste as mostly were spicy. Odd food that I didn’t dare to try include cow brain (that taste like tofu according to the brave colleague), chicken liver.

When I got to the office, I received an envelope and my immediate reaction is like Lizzy in this photo: YAYYYYY!!!! I’ve been working on a project, “begging” the client to share apparently confidential data. The clearance process was long, tedious, to the extend that I was starting to think about back up plan after 8 months of pursue without clear light at the end. And then, I got it!!!! Persistent and patience paid off this time.

Food realization. Girls have been wanting me to open the Trader Joes’ pretzel with peanut butter bag. I finally opened it and packing them for their snacks this week. It’s now Friday and they asked me not to pack anymore. Apparently you can get sick of something that you are supposed to like too. Well… to me, I will never get tired of my favorite food (kabocha, corn, sweet potatoes) when they are true love. Maybe the pretzel with peanut butter are not true love? Or am I just the weirdo?

Final shock news of the day. No class Monday to Thursday next week at school for the girls. Why? Road closure due to ASEAN! How ridiculous? On the bright side, pollution maybe not as bad so I can run more outside? Need to start making playdates plans.

Do you have favorites food that you won’t get sick of eating even if you eat it frequently?

  1. What a strange eating style. What do they do with the dishes you do not eat? Do they reuse them? If not, that does not seem very financially stable, unless they are all very simple or cheap. Maybe they have a pig in the back that they feed all the slops and then they eat the pig so it gets used somehow.

I could eat a carnitas burrito every day of the week. I also have been known to make a salad for each day of the week’s lunch and I don’t really get tired of that.

  2. I do love this sushi place where you grab plates from a conveyer belt and it’s color coded and you get charged for what plates you end up with on your table! SURPRISE no school = NOT COOL

  3. I was wondering too: what happens with the food that you don’t eat? It’s not like they can serve it someone else, right?

I will never get tired of (rye) bread, apples, and granola.

  4. the un-touched food get to be served/showed to other guests. they are covered in plastic film. what surprised me was that they eat/serve cold food. in china, we always eat warm food, except for cold appetizers.

  5. I am such a creature of habit that I do not mind eating the same things over and over and over again. So I could eat oatmeal or toast with peanut butter and banana every day for breakfast and never tire of it. And I don’t get tired of my favorite snack foods, either. I wish I did as that would cut out some of the temptation!!
