Midweek check-in & last week workout

I am focusing on slowing down this week. With my manager’s visit last week, I felt exhausted. This week I’ve set the intention to slowdown.

I am very happy with the Advent Calendar activity so far. We haven’t done it for few years because I thought it’s too much work. Since girls love it so much, due to the surprise factor, I want to put the effort to make them excited every morning to start the day. Every night before bed, Lizzy reminds me to put the thing/note before I go out for a run the next day. So far I’ve done:

Day 1: funny pins. One of a lazy cat sleeping for Sofia, one funny girl learning to swim for Lizzy

Day 2: candies

Day 3: chocolate

Day 4: sticky notes

Day 5: pink cookies

Day 6: milk powders

I’ve gone to buy gifts/snacks for them twice this week and yesterday I wrapped all the Christmas gifts and feel really happy to have decided to do it this year.

Last week’s workout report. It was a hectic week, so I mainly focused on my running and little to none to the rest:

Mon: none

Tues: 5 miles easy and 4 strides (6.4 miles). Air quality was bad so I started on the TM but got so bored that I went out anyway and finished the run. Full body strength (40 min)

Wed: 5 miles easy

Thur: 5 miles easy and 4 strides (5.7 miles).

Fri: rest

Sat: 10 miles that felt great! I love finishing the run strong while listening to blackpink on repeat. I switched the LR as Sunday was Sofia’s swim competition.

Sun: 5 miles easy.

Total miles: 33

It was the start of my luteal phase, and I could feel the drop of energy clearly. It got better at the end of the week but when the switch happened, my body suddenly became easily exhausted. Fortunately, I focused on sleep quality, taking magnesium at night, which helped with the recovery.

  1. Wow, you had a great week of running, especially since you describe it as “hectic.” And nice job getting the Christmas gifts bought AND wrapped!

  2. I just finished ordering gifts for my boys! It’s hard to think about Christmas until our youngest’s birthday is behind us so I was feeling a bit behind after hearing so many were done. But now I am done, too. Woo hoo.

  3. Great job on the running. And I love that you’re doing advent calendar activities with the girls every day. What a neat way to celebrate the holidays!
