Post relaxing weekend

We had a chill weekend, zero celebration other than happy Mother’s Day greetings, which was totally fine by me. I actually didn’t realize it until Sunday morning when someone sent a mass greeting. When I told husband oh today’s Mother’s Day. How shall we celebrate it? He said: shall we go somewhere special for lunch? Me: nah… food is my least interest and everywhere will be packed. So we did nothing special and had an amazing day anyway. What made it amazing?

1. I had a great 14 miles negative split run. Felt strong despite the 90F and 92% humidity. Sofía wasn’t feeling well so she didn’t join me and ran on the treadmills later.

2. I had 2 hours of catch up time with hubby who I admittedly neglected last week as work has been hectic. He is super forgiving and kind to just wait for the right moment for us to spend solo time to catch up, especially since I’ll be away for 3 days this week.

3. We did groceries shopping, the most mundane task that everyone seems to like.

4. Takeout lunch because I was too lazy to cook. Teriyaki chicken with rice and cherry tomatoes. Nobody complained.

5. I took 30 min nap and woke up feeling as if I’ve slept for hours.

6. I spent the afternoon reading and taking so many notes. Sofía made mango ice cream.

7. I took the girls out for bicycling. They biked, I read. we enjoyed the sunset and breeze.

8. girls enjoyed one hour of Netflix and I continued reading in bed.

In summary: our Sunday was filled with outdoor exercise, connection time, reading and chill.

I just wish I had one extra weekend day like this to fully recover and recharge. Monday was hectic and I have a headache. Oh well… will go to bed extra early tonight.

  1. Mother’s Day is so pervasive here that you could not not know it was on Sunday!! It is mentioned so much which is both good and bad because for some people it’s a painful day… so I don’t really love the holiday. I thought a lot about my friends who have lost their mom already. 😦 But I had a nice day all in all although it started with being woken earlier than I would have liked which sucked because I had been awake during the night from insomnia! Bleh.

I’m glad you got some time with your husband! It’s tough to be away or extra busy at work. We have been on a long stretch of those kind of weeks so I am glad we have a date night on Saturday night to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary.

  2. This sounds like a wonderful day! So relaxing. I feel like it’s so rare for me to ever have a weekend day that doesn’t have some sort of kids activity… or if not that, then some kind of family event or something pops up. Oh well, I guess tis the season in my life right now. Glad you enjoyed your Mother’s Day!

What does your husband do on a Sunday like that while you’re reading all afternoon/ biking with girls? Is he just home, or does he go out somewhere…? Just curious! Mine likes to try to get out and play soccer if he gets the chance, so many Sundays in the summer he tries to sneak off to that for a while if it works out.

  3. Great job on the negative splits. I am a total “even splits runner” most times LOL and so great you took the girls out for a bike ride!
