I think this office camp is being very entertaining for Sofia.
- She saw me taking 6:30am call one minute after I came back from my run. I was sweaty and smelly but I was on time to take the first meeting on time.
- She saw me being in an interview panel, the nervous interviewee” and the amused panelists.
- She heard someone in the office say “FUCK” very loud, followed by a big bang (throwing something to the wall). To be fair, this is very rare event, first time that happened since I came to Jakarta office. This is high stress month for us as our fiscal year ends in June.
- She went with me and my colleague friend to the tailor during lunch break for my new batiks.
- She enjoys the snack corner in the office (most of us travel a lot and always brings snacks from our trips) and the hot chocolate/coffee machine.
- She sees people walking up and down the corridor and wonder why they walk around so much, usually with the phone on hand.
While the actual hours spent in the office could be boring for her as she finishes her homework quickly and just reads her kindle, but those small things are real life learning on office experience, that kids at her age can learn from.
After late night meeting on Tuesday and early meeting on Wednesday, I went to bed 7:30pm and had solid 9 hours sleep. Hooray!
What a neat experience for her!
Yay for sleep! 9 hours! That sounds divine.

hi Coco! Thanks for sharing about Sophia! I want to get Lyra a kindle, too, when she is Sophia’s age. Are both of your girls big readers? How do you motivate them to read? By modeling of course, but do you do anything else?

It’s kind of fun/helpful to get an outsider perspective on a work environment because we can kind of stop seeing things as clearly as a new person might? That’s good that loud outbursts are not typical. That is the case where I work but when I was on a trading floor in Charlotte it was a whole different story and that was one of the reasons I had to get out of that job. People would scream at each other and that was so jarring for me!!

Today I did a Photo Every Hour post and when I reflect on it, I spent half of my waking hours at work and the post does a good job of showing what a day in my work life looks like. I would kind of like “Bring Your Blogging Friend To Work Day” to be a thing. There are so many people who I would like to know what their day to day looks like!

I think it’s really cool that she gets to experience you at work and see what a day at the office is like!
