First weekend in Brasilia: TOP!

We had our first “normal” weekend in Brasilia and it was amazing! Maybe I should have rested more as the accumulated fatigue started to set in, but I also wanted the family to live and explore our new city.

Saturday: we went to the Iguatemi mall, the most luxurious mall in Brasilia, mainly to get school supplies for Sofia and have lunch. For our first restaurant meal, I chose Coco Bambu and it was a good experience for them.

Moqueca is a traditional dish in Bahia. I had the tofu curry again and really like it.

We received our maid, finally had a deep cleaning of the house since we moved in. She’s from Peru and will be our full time maid in June. The house smelled great after her work.

We spent the afternoon putting away clothes, finally unpacked everything. Lizzy is the most enthusiastic person in the family! She seems to enjoy her new school, friends, and buffet style lunch.

Girls got back to their Saturday evening netflix tradition while I went to bed 7:30pm, after 10 min of duolingo, I fell asleep. So sleepy the whole day.

Sunday: I took an uber to go to the City Park for my run. I did 13 miles before the family arrived for some cycling fun. The tricycle looked easier than riding it. Girls had fun running/pushing/biking it for an hour. Then we had acai bowl before we left the park, full of people exercising.

After a long hot shower, I had really late breakfast and watched the life list with the girls. Then I took a quick nap to recharge before we went to the Wakeboard experience. A colleague who lived here for 4 years came for work and invited us to join him and his adult son. Daddy, Lizzy, and me enjoyed the ride, the scenery, catching a group of capybara.

while Sofia tried Wakeboard. She fell a few times but managed to learn to stand up pretty quickly. no surprise as she is so good with water.

the instructor + photographer, super cool guy

the lake is super beautiful during sunset time. What a great way to wrap our weekend.

When we got home, our massage therapist just arrived. Husband and I both had an hour of home massage! The technique is different, she incorporated some Chinese techniques such a guasha and cupping. Very nice. I think we will have her over every Sunday 🙂

It’s very nice to have my mom here with us, cooking us homemade dinners and explore this new life. There are lot more to be done to make our new house home, yet we have the basic settling down and can start living in it.

Looking forward to this week:

  • I will be traveling to Sao Paulo for 3 days.
  • Sofia will start her regular school. Last week was school field trip week.
  • The girls will get their bed frame.

  2. Of course you’re all exhausted, but I am so impressed with all the things you’ve tried/done already. It must feel so good to start to put down “roots”.

    How’s Cookie adjusting?
