Our weekend was quite full this time, we fit a lot in. I am glad to have taken 3 days off in Lima so I had the mental energy to roll on.
Saturday: Lizzy had a swim meet up at our club. we left home 6:30am to arrive for 7am warm up. While she did the wam up, I walked around the club and found out this beautiful path for morning walk/jog. I feel grateful to be living in this bubble (it seems that everywhere we go, we live in the bubble of the country). Brasilia is really a hidden treasure that not many knows about and absolutely the most family friendly city.

and I found out we had a rowing center with all kind of boats and havaiana canoe, something I’ve meant to try for a while. I immediately booked a session for next week.

we finished swim meet up 9:30am and went to Lizzy’s next event, kumon award ceremony. She got two kinds for advanced placement which is great. The funniest and weirdest thing was to have a modeling show in between award ceremony. So weird. Other than seeing proud parents face, which is universal, that modeling show tells a lot about value system, right? I asked Lizzy what she thought about the show, whether she’d like to model like those kids, she put face expressing no way, that was too weird.

we got home just around lunch time. We ate, rested, I napped, watched few episodes of nobody wants this season 2, and left for school’s Halloween party. The school transformed the campus for the party, quite nicely done. Lizzy walked around with her classmates, I counting the minutes we could leave (given the noise and the BBQ smell), telling myself to stay a bit longer so Lizzy can have fun.

Finally by 6:40pm Lizzy was satisfied and ready to go. We took a pic and left the party. So nice to be back home after a long day of activities.
Sunday: after an excellent night of sleep (6th consecutive day since we returned home, surprisingly!), I went out for a run. I have been running 5 miles since Wednesday, didn’t run on Saturday so Sunday I wanted to do a bit more. But purposeful I didn’t bring water nor gel so I “forced” myself not to go too long. I finished after 8 miles with energy to go on but decided not to as I was still not sure about my knees. I am just happy to be able to run, not for long, not fast, just in motion.
I got home Sofia was still sleeping as she got back from Panama 2am. After I finished shower and breakfast, I did a marathon cooking and baking. I made 2 loafs of sourdough, crepes with berries chia jam, apple muffins, aztec cookies, burritos and quesadillas, potato salad, a bean veggie soup, and beef bulgori with rice. After all that, I felt satisfied and relieved to have stocked food for the family while I’ll be on work trip.
I also made breakfast pizza for Lizzy which she loved

and homemade dumplings, first time since we moved to Brasilia. I used chicken carrot cabbage and egg as filling and the family loved. Now that we know we can make it at home without too much effort, I can see all kind of dumplings we could be making.
I was rewarded by a massage at home after full day of work. I also packed for my trip, and order 2026 hobonichi planner and a new cover.
husband also got busy as our washer broke. So he was doing laundry, semi manually. The amount of laundry we go through is really not viable without a machine. So first thing on Monday was to find someone to fix it.
A full weekend, a nice one.
Q: what household chore you dislike the most? I think dishes and bathroom are on tie for me.
Yikes, your washer broke! That’s one of the worst appliances to break in my opinion – right after the fridge and stove. Let’s hope it gets fixed quickly.
Yay for Lizzy and her Kumon awards! Wow, you sure got a lot of cooking done on Sunday.
Hmmm….least favourite household chore…I think it’s vacuuming, which is unfortunate, since I have to vacuum all the time *side eyes Rex*

Nice job on that 8-mile run, Coco! So glad your knees seem to be cooperating.
I’m impressed by how much you fit into one weekend, from cheering at Lizzy’s swim meet to that marathon cooking session (your menu sounds incredible!). The modelling show at the award ceremony made me laugh, what a bizarre intermission!
Also, is “Nobody Wants This” worth watching?
I just finished the new season of The Diplomat (loved it, I know you watched it too!) and yesterday I tried The Woman in Cabin 10….which was… let’s say, not exactly gripping.

Oh gosh a broken washer would be a nightmare!
Your weekend sounded busy and fun. The Halloween event looked very cute! I should get a witch’s hat to wear when the boys trick or treat so I look more festive. It would be an easy costume to wear!
Contest to Lizzy on her Kumon award!!

Wow- you did a LOT of cooking!!! I’m impressed- and it wasn’t even for you, it was for your family while you’re away. I’m extra impressed.
Congrats to Lizzy- and extra kudos to you for lasting out the Halloween party. And- yay for pain-free running! Sounds like the knee is holding up well.
