Before official summer starts

The last few days have been a bit stressful doing the single parenting as I had a big deadline at work and last minute surprises happened and I had to deal with them while still driving girls around to activities and doctor appointments. Fortunately everyone was understanding and girls in good spirit. The other thing that suffered was my quality of sleep.

We still managed to join Festa Junina organized by our condo. We didn’t stay long but it was nice to feel the vibe and try out few local food.

I had a great 16 miles solo run on Sunday morning, only capybara in sight and a solo swimmer. This was my longest run since last July 5 when my knee issue started. I am so happy to get where I am now in term of running and managing the aging knee.

We managed to finish the 2025 yearbook, went with mixbook this year as it is AI enhanced and could suggest layout and text, making the process easier. We found this photo of Cookie, so cute.

Our office is with full world cup mode. Everyone got a sticker like this

On Tuesday, I brought the girls to my lunch spot

they also joined the group watching of France and Senegal. It was a lot of fun!

Wednesday I worked from home, finishing last minute packing. Girls spent lots of quality time with each of their cats

we all took a nap between 7pm-10:30pm before we got to the airport. Still quite sleepy but we will have 6 hours on flight to Panama to sleep more.

If looking only by pic, you’d think I had it easy but let me give two concrete examples of the level of overwhelm I was. First, I left the oven on overnight Tuesday night after i made roasted potatoes for the girls. Then i added salt instead of sugar to Sofia’s oatmeal. Gosh…… I was glad I didn’t break anything else.

Yet, here we are, waiting at the lounge for our boarding time. DC, here we come! 🙂

  1. I hope your travels are smooth and you can get some rest! Are you a good plane-sleeper? I am generally but my husband only can manage a few hours on long-hauls, so he’s often exhausted.

    1. I usually can’t sleep much on flight unless I can lay down. But it was fine, we all gotten some sleep at home and on flight. Transiting through Panama now and will soon arrive! 🙂

  2. Solo parenting makes everything just a bit more challenging since you don’t have a parent to share the load with. I think the girls are out of school, too, so they are not occupied all day while you work which makes things more challenging.

    Safe travels to DC!
